The DA started the fun with these billboards declaring "E-tolls. Proudly brought to you by the ANC."
The ANC wasn’t too pleased and lodged a complaint with the Advertising Standards Authority and Independent Electoral Commission.
Then, in an effort to drum up a bit more good publicity, ANC spokesperson Jackson Mthembu started a Twitter campaign called #ProudlyBroughtByANC.
But boy, did it backfire!
Twitter users responded accordingly, here are some of my favourites:
Shaik and Selebi: Not behind bars, but playing golf and shopping up a storm. #ProudlyBroughtByANC
All these malfunctioning traffic lights must be #ProudlyBroughtByANC
Deteriorating health services and hospitals! #ProudlyBroughtByANC
Almost R14 a litre of petrol. #ProudlyBroughtByANC
R16 to the pound and R 10 to the dollar - #ProudlyBroughtByANC

BEETROOTS & GARLIC AIDS Cure #ProudlyBoughtByANC

Motorists stop in a roadblock and check their wallets to make sure they have enough cash for the bribe not a license. #ProudlyBoughtByANC
